About this entry

Just some idle musings on why I write erotica. What started it, what keeps it going. It's also a light introduction to me as an author.

I think initially my writing began as an outlet for those freaky, insatiable desires we all get at one point or another. I had just started getting into the kink scene in my 20s, really exploring it and so on. (Went to my first sex toy store during Covid. The masks were a big help!)

But it pretty quickly became apparent some things just couldn't be done in person, or I lacked the right partner for it. So I wrote. I was already a decent writer, I did well in school and had teachers who spent a lot of time critiquing and building my writing skills for reports and projects. If only they knew...
So I started writing explorative smut. I wrote some pretty cheap, quick thrills on a fetish site, things that got some likes and a few comments or messages from readers. One very important woman to me suggested I write on a different writing platform; one more suited to actually writing on it. Had the proper formatting, had the community for it, had it all. She was right, and I spent the next few years writing and honing my style and such there.

But I think it was there that I discovered why I wanted to keep going. Writing wasn't just an outlet for me anymore, just a way to explore "out there" kinks. It was a way to engage with similarly-minded readers. I produce my writings in the hopes that others enjoy it and genuinely nothing makes me want to write more than knowing someone somewhere out there will be excited to read it. It barely matters how many, I'm quite humbled by how many read my pieces here. But if even one person wrote a comment or sent a message saying that they liked my piece and why, there's no better sensation for me. I do think it borders on a kink for me. Might be a bit of a praise thing, sure, but really it's the sensation of knowing someone is enjoying themselves because of me and specifically my writing. It's quite a rush.

But I'm still never satisfied with where I am. I always want to improve, I want to meet more readers, I want to read your comments and see where I'm lacking and where I can grow. One of my favorite stories I wrote, back on that "other site" where I got most of my practice, was heavily centered around reader submissions. People would fill out a little form I made to give me a rough idea of a chapter they wanted and I wrote it to their rough specifications and seeing their reaction to it was utter satisfaction. Sublime.

I hope this isn't too personal or too rambling, I hope it doesn't weird anyone out or put you off reading my stuff because you know the author is secretly hoping you enjoy their work. But I do want people to like my stuff and if it seems like people aren't enjoying it, I do genuinely struggle to keep up the motivation to proceed. My current library is proof of that; one story got a positive reception and has ballooned into my biggest story by readership with many more chapters planned and on the way.

So thank you all, both for reading my stuff and reading this blog and continuing to read. It's what makes me want to keep writing.
(and like, idk if you want to message me with ideas for my next story, go for it I guess?)
