Lauren, a young woman, is sentenced to death for stealing a loaf of bread in a village with a zero-tolerance policy on theft. She is taken to the village bog, a dark and bottomless expanse of black peat and stagnant water, where she is to be swallowed alive. Alongside her is Daisy, a young woman who was falsely accused by her ex-boyfriend. The story explores their final moments as they face their execution, finding solace in each other's company and memories of home.
