Chapter 13

A week later he found he was wrong. It was Friday night and he had arrived home from work – he lived alone and had nothing planned for the weekend.

After showering and pulling on some loose fitting pants and a t-shirt he was just starting to cook a meal when the doorbell rang.

He wasn’t expecting anyone but when he opened it he was pushed back into the hall by the men he had met on the moor. He made to call out and a fist slammed into his stomach and he fell to the floor doubled up in pain.

‘Hello Simon!’ he heard the voice of the man he recognised as the leader say. ‘We thought it was a good idea to check you got home safely and that you hadn’t thought about talking to the Police!’

Simon shook his head to clear the pain; ‘I have no intention of doing that!’ he said through gritted teeth.

‘That’s good to hear’, the man said; ‘but your browsing history tells a different story. You have been researching how to anonymously tip the Police off and we can’t have that.’

Simon had no idea how they knew what he had been doing.
