Chapter 2 of 30
Delilah blushed in embarrassment as she stood beside a polished kitchen island while watching Matthew let his dog out into the backyard of his house and slide the glass door closed behind him. Whiskey darted out across the back lawn but seemed more interested in what was happening inside and quickly found a spot in the shade underneath the back patio overhang to watch the two humans inside. Matthew slowly moved towards Delilah before leaning against the counter some feet away from her. She was blushing badly as she tried to figure out what she was doing in his house.
"So, miss Chanson, I'm quite curious as to why you would be so excited to dog-sit for me and my dear Whiskey there. Care to explain?" He asks calmly while looking straight at her, giving her a moment to collect her thoughts as best she could. She took a slow breath and tried to hold his gaze, but this man, well-built, handsome, likely wealthy and oozing with confidence, kept stealing away her own confidence...
"W-well... you said that your usual boarder wouldn't take him... and I thought it'd be nice if someone you, at least somewhat, knew could help keep an eye on him." She offers, not entirely sure herself why she had offered... but part of her could guess.
He lets out a hesitant and questioning grunt, "Hn, that all makes a measure of sense. But it doesn't make sense why you'd be so eager." He holds his position for a moment before pushing off the kitchen island and moving to the stainless steel refrigerator, fixing two cups of ice water and offering one to Delilah before speaking again. "Much as I'd appreciate a sitter from the neighborhood, I don't know you, or your folks, all that well. Probably my fault to some degree, it's not like I show up to many of the community barbeques, but-" He pauses to take a sip of water, giving Delilah a moment to look at his fit body contained in his athletic shirt, stretching and tugging slightly as his arm lifted and torso turned, "-but you don't seem like the type to walk dogs and pick up shit. No offense."
Delilah stifled a laugh, coming out as a short snort and shook her head, "None... taken? I just... well, if I can be honest?"
Matthew nods slightly, gesturing for her to continue.
"I'm... having some disagreements with my parents this summer. I graduated high school and am going to university this fall... and they banned me from doing... well, anything. No parties, no boys, no s-se-uh, fun. And since they never let me have a dog and I just know I'm going to wind up in a no-pets apartment for uni... this would be a fun way to try having a dog and stick it to my parents and it'll be hard for them to say no since it's technically helping someone in the neighborhood out of the goodness of my own heart-"
"Even if it's a bit self-serving. Curious. And smart. Clever girl." He praises, feigning a golf clap on his wrist before humming. "Alright. I'll bite. I should warn you though... it's not like he's an easy dog to care for. He just reached maturity for a canine, has more energy than you can fathom, is very particular and demands to sleep in the bed. I don't much mind that one. Makes a better companion than my wife. Ex-wife, that is. Better snuggles, fewer arguments."
Matthew only cracks a slight grin at that last comment and Delilah, despite really wanting to ask, thinks better of it and merely lets out a polite laugh. He continues.
"If most of this is just getting away from your parents on one last glorious summer before the oh-so-terrible grind of higher education, then I suspect they'll want some kind of writing or contract. The people who inhabit this neighborhood typically do." He sets his cup down and moves over towards Delilah again, squaring up with her and nearly making her take a step back as she really noticed that intense look in his brown eyes. With a sharp jawline, no facial hair, the first wisps of gray hair around his temples and light skin, he was an imposing figure, let alone the height difference between the two. "I take it you'll agree to a simple arrangement? Whiskey, when I'm gone, would need constant supervision. So you'd be staying here for the duration. It'll be four days, a weekend, plus or minus a day depending on circumstance. You'd be free to help yourself to the kitchen, provided you don't burn the place down, and when I get back I'll compensate you fairly for time spent, assuming the dog is still alive?"
Delilah's eyes widened and narrowed a bit as he spoke, realizing he was serious and this was genuinely happening. She felt a bit offended that he even felt it necessary to say no burning his house down or starving the dog... how useless did he think she was? She responded with a firm nod. "I can do all of that. And I'll make sure that dog loves me by the end of the weekend, just you watch!"
Matthew snickered and extended his hand calmly. "I'll write something up for you to show your parents. Just a little leg-up. I'll be going this weekend, so really you coming in is very helpful and fortunate. I'll have you come in on Friday morning so we can go over anything else relevant and I'll be gone by noon. Come by before then for that contract."
Delilah took a slow breath and shook his hand, fighting the urge to tremble, for some reason. Why... was this putting her on edge? She'd lived alone, in a sense, for the entirety of her high school years. Maybe it was because this was an act of defiance against her parents? The seriousness with which this handsome early-40s man was taking her offer? Her excitement to "have a dog" for a little while? She wasn't sure. "I'll be back tomorrow for it! Don't you worry, I'll take good care of him. It'll be fun!"
Matthew smirked again as they shook hands. The kind of smirk one gives when they know more than the other person in the room. "I'm sure you will..."
Delilah finished packing her duffel bag with clothes for the weekend and her backpack with her laptop and some study materials. Part of her ruse for all this was that she would get some studying done, and she probably would given the duration she was going to be there for, but her parents had, curiously, allowed her to go without much fuss. Perhaps having her out of the house was something they liked and couldn't pass up the opportunity to get rid of her for a weekend. And, if she was honest with herself, she was excited to get out of their house too. Her hands were a bit shaky as she went for a small lock box in her closet and pulled out a few private items. She blushed as she tucked a vibrating wand, small rubber dildo, and a silicone butt plug into her bag. Her face reddened even more at the thought of getting to use them. She'd enjoyed toy play with some of her "partners" in previous summers and always looked forward to a chance to enjoy them again. And now, for this summer, with parties and boyfriends' houses out of the question, she might be able to sneak some time in at Matthew's house. After he left, of course. She felt a little guilty that she was using his house as a getaway to seek some perverted pleasure but for the price of tending his dog and house... that seemed like a fair bargain! And if Matthew went out of town again, she said she'd dog-sit again... even though she hadn't even done so once yet. So it must be him getting a good deal here!
Walking across the park to Matthew's home with an eagerness about her, she pressed the call button on the pedestrian gate at the front of his property. The tall, dense hedges hid most of his home and she realized that the sturdy gates for both car and person were more to keep Whiskey, or his previous dogs, from getting out of the yard. She looked around and noticed there didn't seem to be any kind of shock collar pylons around his property so he simply had to keep his dogs in the old fashioned ways; walls, hedges, gates, and fences.
The panel beside the gate crackled and Matthew's voice came through. "Gate's open, Delilah, I'm in the backyard. Come on around."
Delilah pushed the gate open and hefted her bag on her shoulder, making her way up the pathway in the lawn as the gate clacked shut behind her. She went around the house as instructed, finding well-manicured landscaping even on the sides of the house and that persistent security-offering hedging before opening a latched gate and entering the backyard.
Akin to the front yard, the backyard was secluded by a high privacy fence and more hedges for good measure. A large lawn with a small gazebo and a pebble-bottom pool took up the bulk of the visual landscape but she spotted a few niche details in rock features, trimmed trees, and some small sculptures or stone benches here and there.
Sitting on a poolside lounger with Whiskey's head in his hands, scratching on his dog's ears, was Matthew in a fairly casual set of travel clothes, short dark hair slicked back a bit and seemingly freshly-showered. He looked up as Delilah entered the yard and smiled, giving Whiskey a little sign to run off as he stood and moved to meet her with a handshake. "Perfect timing. They teach that in school these days?" He teased as she slipped her duffel bag from her shoulder and plopped it on the pool deck, smiling back.
"No, I picked that one up all on my own. Whiskey seems excited." She comments as the German Shepherd in question barrels around, chasing some stray toys on the lawn.
Matthew snickers and nods, watching his canine with a prideful look before turning back to Delilah. "He is. He thinks he's coming along, poor fella. Not this time. Come on, I'll show you where his stuff is, where to find leashes, supplies, and give you a quick tour. Need help with your bags?" He asks just to watch Delilah quickly snatch her duffel off the speckled cement surrounding the pool with a hasty smile.
"N-no thank you! I'm plenty fine. If I can't handle some canvas how could I handle a big dog like Whiskey, right?" She jokes, but mostly she was just shy to the possibility he might drop the back and her few sex toys in there would come tumbling out like a plot in a cheap porno... she thought she might die on the spot if he saw those!
Matthew nods. "Alright, suit yourself, young lady. Let's go."
Matthew leads the two inside and, upon seeing his master go indoors, Whiskey darts through the door, brushing past Delilah in a hurry before launching onto Matthew's suitcase sitting by the attached garage door. He snorts at his dog and shakes his head while looking at Delilah. "He's like that. Very... expressive. Worse around this time of year, you'll probably see why. Just ignore him and push him off if he tries anything ungentlemanly. In here."
Delilah doesn't quite know what Matthew meant by all that. She worried that Whiskey might have some allergies? It was late spring, early summer...? She follows the man into a walk-in closet near the front door where she saw a stash of canine gear. Collars, leashes of various size and strength, and doggy-bags for picking up waste on walks. "Typically this would be a mud room or space for shoes, but with a hyperactive dog or two, it's nice having a door to close on them while you leash them. Feel free to make use of it when you walk him. He needs three a day, morning, noon, and evening, and any extras you feel inclined towards if he's got too much energy. He'll be eager to release a bunch of it most days, so don't be shy to send him in the back yard if he's gotten walked and you're wiped out. He knows not to drown in the pool and can't get out of the yard. This way." He brushes past Delilah and leads her back to the kitchen and the large pantry. He points out a large tub on the floor with a very robust lockable lid and plenty of scratch marks on it. "Food. Cup and a half of food twice a day, he'll let you know when it's meal time. Like I said-"
"Expressive." Delilah finishes, earning a small grin from Matthew.
"Good girl. You are learning quick. Lastly, bedroom. This way." He goes past her again and guides her towards a guest room on the ground floor. It was sparse, lacked any real color, but was generally inoffensive. "Guest room for yourself, if you'd like. But you're welcome to join Whiskey in my room upstairs. He knows where it is, has a doggy-door that can be locked if you need him in or out of there for a while, and is at the top of the stairs, left, and down the hall. Do yourself a favor, don't snoop around my house. I know I can't stop you, but I'd prefer if you refrained. Is that fair?"
Delilah blushed and nodded. "Yeah! That's... that's fair. Uhm, how about a washroom? If I'm going to be here for a few days... and will Whiskey need a bath?"
Matthew grunted in thought. "I didn't think he'd need one if I'm only gone a few days, but if he finds a patch of mud to roll in, that would be preferable to him tracking mud all over the carpets. Sure, there's a washroom just outside the guest room here, in the master suite with my bed, and another one upstairs, top of the stairs."
Delilah nodded, quickly mapping out where those bathrooms would be and smiled. "That should work! I brought my own bath supplies, so I won't steal any of yours!"
The tall man chuckled. "Very courteous of you. However, if you run out, it's no problem. If that's all-" His phone chimes quietly and he glances down, slipping it out of his pocket and answering it swiftly. "Orem. Good morning. Yes. Yes. I'm leaving shortly. No, there won't be any problem, a cute neighbor girl is handling him. Yes. No, I'll pay her after. See you soon. Behave until I get there." He hangs up and turns away from Delilah, revealing almost nothing about his call from his expression. He heads for his suitcase and the garage. "One of my... partners. She was concerned about what would happen to Whiskey, even volunteered to do this too but she's actually required for this little trip, so she couldn't do it. As it is, thank you for stepping in, miss Chanson." He explains over his shoulder as Delilah obediently trots along behind him, his long strides making it quite a task to keep up as he walked purposefully across the house.
Whiskey perked up as the two humans approached and Matthew stopped just shy of his suitcase, pointing at the floor. "Sit." The dog got up promptly and moved to where he was indicated towards before Matthew knelt down, rubbing on his dog's muzzle again and speaking in a much kinder, friendlier tone than he had with Delilah. He wasn't impolite with her in any way, just professional. With Whiskey, he was all affection. "Be a good boy for the nice lady. She'll handle everything for you. No watching TV past your bed time." He stands and grabs his suitcase before looking at Delilah. "Grab his collar, would you? He'll try to follow anyway. He's terrible with most of his commands and obedience so far, but we're working on it."
Delilah snickers. "Quite a precocious boy, huh? I'll handle him. Have a safe trip, mister Orem. And say hi to your associate for me!" Delilah felt a little blush of embarrassment as she said to say hi to a stranger she hadn't and likely never would meet. Shaking her head and biting her tongue before she made any other dumb remarks, she grabbed the back of the dog's collar and felt a surge of energy under her grip. The dog tried to lunge forward as Matthew went for the garage door and it was all she could do to suddenly dig her feet in and stop him. She was athletic and fit, sure, but a little over 100 pounds of canine muscle was a lot to restrain for a girl who didn't weigh much more than that herself! She skids on the tiled floor of Matthew's kitchen dining space before managing to get Whiskey under control enough for the man to open the door, step through, and close it before she released the hound and the canine shot off like a rocket, all but colliding with the door as he tried to chase his master. A few futile hops at the door and some desperate whines, Delilah strides over cautiously and tries to pet him to get his attention.
"C'mon, big guy... I'll be keeping you company instead. Will that be alright?" She asks, feeling a bit silly for talking to the dog like he was a person. Whiskey turns and regards her fully, realizing she was the only other human around now. A quick glance at the garage door confirms Matthew wasn't coming back immediately and instead he looks to Delilah. He trots around her a few times with that big, bushy tail wagging a bit sadly between his legs as he sniffed the new person. He'd been aware of her since she got here, sure, but only now did he finally take some time to sniff and investigate her. Delilah wasn't sure what to do with her hands as the dog swung around and wedged his nose in between her thighs from behind, that nose bumping up and around her buttocks as he checked her out. She jumped and turned, letting out a little yelp as she was blushing madly while she was trying to let him figure her out as, most likely, he was just nervous about a new person in his home and his master going away. Which, she had to admit, would be nerve-wracking for a dog.
Finally satisfied with his sniffing and checking, Whiskey backs off and paces around a bit, seeming a bit sad that Matthew was gone but accepting of his "caretaker." Delilah takes a look at the clock and hums. "You should be due a walk right about-gwah!" Her comment gets cut off as Whiskey, an excitable, full-size German Shepard, hears a certain four-letter word and bowls her over, all but mounting her as he pants and wiggles, finally letting out a single bark to get her to move, not really understanding he was pinning her down.
Delilah, after recovering from the surprise of being knocked down, giggles and tries pushing Whiskey's muzzle away just for his wet nose to repeatedly dart back and brush over her face, a few licks added in for good measure in the effort of slobbering all over her face. "Alright, alright, just let me get up and we'll go. And no running off!" She orders as she tries to get up, rolling over and climbing to her feet as he keeps jumping and bumping up against her, making her stumble around a bit and try to avoid the fur missile before finally reaching the front room with all the dog equipment, picking out a leash, and managing to hold him in place long enough to clip it to his collar.
"Alright, Whiskey. A quick walk around the neighborhood, and then back here for some food." She said to the dog before thinking to herself, "and some private time for me!"
All during their walk, mostly a run with how eager Whiskey was to track down his master, Delilah was happily watching the dog bound around but always her mind was tugging her back towards those few toys of her own stuffed in her duffel bag. After a year in a high school dorm in an all-girls school... she was eager to have some fun and get some pleasure.
