Chapter 14 of 21
The darker side of their new world reared its head a month later. Lady Dashworth believed in consolidating power through strategic alliances. She had a niece, Marybeth, a girl of twenty who was as sharp as she was beautiful, but who possessed a cruel, arrogant streak that worried even her aunt. She saw in Eleanor's son, Jonathan, a potential match. "He is of good stock, Eleanor," Lady Dashworth had argued. "Well-trained, biddable. And Marybeth needs a direction in her life."
The meeting was arranged at Vinters House. Jonathan, dressed in a simple but well-fitting suit, his collar discreetly hidden beneath his shirt, was nervous but obedient. Marybeth was a vision of predatory elegance, her eyes raking over him as if he were a horse she was considering buying. "Come with me," she said, her voice a silky command. "I want to show you my rooms."
Jonathan followed her up the grand staircase and down a private corridor into a suite of rooms that were both beautiful and intimidating. "Take off your clothes," she said, her back to him as she examined herself in a large mirror. He hesitated, and she turned, her eyes flashing. "Now."
He complied, his movements stiff with embarrassment. When he was naked, she circled him, her expression one of clinical assessment. Then, her true nature revealed itself. She struck him, a hard, open-handed slap across the face that sent him reeling. Before he could recover, she produced a thin, whippy cane from a stand in the corner. "We're going to see what you're made of," she purred.
The torture was brutal and sadistic, devoid of any purpose other than the infliction of pain. She caned his back until the skin broke and wept, her laughter echoing in the room. She forced him to his knees and, with a strap-on, took his virgin backside with a violent, uncaring force that made him scream. He was begging within minutes, pleading for her to stop, his promises of obedience lost in his sobs. When she was finally finished, she was breathing heavily, her eyes alight with a savage triumph. She grabbed him by the hair. "Crawl," she ordered, and led him from the room.
She dragged him back down the main staircase, naked, bleeding, and crying, his backside a mess of blood and leaking fluids. He was a broken, humiliated wreck. Eleanor, who had been waiting in the drawing room, rose to her feet, her face a mask of horror and fury. "What have you done?" she gasped.
Lady Dashworth was equally appalled, her composure shattered. "Marybeth, what is the meaning of this?" she demanded, her voice ringing with authority. "This is not domination! This is depravity! It is abuse!"
She had her niece seized by two burly footmen. "Take her to the cellar," she commanded, then turned to Eleanor, her face pale with genuine remorse. "Eleanor, I am so sorry. I cannot apologize enough. I misjudged her terribly." She summoned the housekeeper, a stern, capable woman named Mrs. Gable. "Mrs. Gable, please take Jonathan to the blue guest room and tend to his wounds. Use the best salves. See to his every need."
Down in the cellar, Lady Dashworth and Eleanor confronted Marybeth. "You thought this was power?" Eleanor asked, her voice cold with rage. "This is cruelty. It is weakness."
Lady Dashworth stripped the struggling girl, then stripped herself of her jacket. "You will learn what true domination is," she said, her voice dangerously low. "And you will learn how it feels to be truly beaten." The lesson was harsh and unforgettable. Lady Dashworth, with Eleanor's assistance, gave her niece a taste of her own medicine, a beating that was not for pleasure, but for purification. It was a lesson in empathy, taught through pain.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Jonathan was being cared for with gentle, professional kindness by the household staff. The next day, a chastened and deeply remorseful Marybeth was brought to him. She knelt by his bed, her eyes red from crying. "Jonathan," she whispered, "I am so sorry. For everything. The ladies... they were right. I was a monster." She looked at him, her vulnerability naked and raw. "I would like to see you again. To meet you properly. If you would let me."
In time, they did. They became firm friends, their shared ordeal forging a bond of deep, mutual understanding. Two years later, Jonathan stood proudly in the drawing room at Vinters House. He was naked, save for the steel cage Eleanor had fitted him with years ago. Before him knelt Marybeth. In her hands was a collar, not of iron, but of beautifully worked, soft black leather, with a single, small silver tag. It was his collar.
The collaring ceremony was an intimate affair, attended only by Celia, Eleanor, and Lady Dashworth. Marybeth spoke of her journey, of her mistakes, and of her profound respect for the man before her. She fastened the collar around his neck, her touch gentle and reverent. Then, she picked up a soft leather paddle. "To mark our new beginning," she said softly. "And to show that I understand my responsibilities."
The beating she administered was light, symbolic. Each gentle slap was a promise, a declaration of her commitment to the true principles of their society. Jonathan did not flinch. He knelt, his head held high, a single tear of pride and happiness tracing a path down his cheek. He was hers. And she was his mistress, in the truest and noblest sense of the word.
