Chapter 6 of 21
The barn at the edge of the paddocks behind Susan's saddlery was a world away from the tidy houses of Rochester. It was a cavernous space, filled with the rich, earthy scent of leather, hay, and horses. The high beams were draped with cobwebs, and the light struggled through the grimy windows, casting long, dancing shadows. It was the perfect place for a dark baptism, and Susan was its high priestess.
David, her fiancé, had arrived full of blustering confidence. A successful accountant, he believed in order, logic, and his own inherent superiority. He had been amused by Susan's "kinky games," thinking them a harmless prelude to a marriage he would, of course, dominate. He walked into the barn that Saturday afternoon with a smirk, expecting to find a few flimsy scarves and a playful afternoon.
He found Celia and Eleanor waiting instead, their faces impassive, their eyes cold. And he found Susan, transformed. She was dressed in tight black jodhpurs and a severe white shirt, her hair pulled back in a harsh bun. In her hand, she held a thin, wicked-looking riding crop.
"Surprise, darling," Susan said, her voice a silken purr that held no warmth. "We're going to play a little game. And you're the main attraction."
David's smirk faltered. "Susan? What's this? I thought we were just..."
"You thought," Susan interrupted, tapping the crop against her boot. "That's your first mistake. From now on, you won't think. You'll obey."
Before he could protest, Celia and Eleanor moved in, their grip surprisingly strong. They were no longer just housewives; they were experienced handlers. They stripped him of his clothes, his feeble struggles easily overcome. The restraints Susan had crafted were masterpieces of the saddler's art. Thick leather straps buckled his wrists behind his back. A wider strap was cinched tightly around his elbows, pulling them together and forcing his chest forward. A thick leather collar was buckled around his neck, and a gag, shaped like a bit for a horse, was forced into his mouth, silencing his protests. Finally, they lifted him onto a low-slung wooden vaulting horse in the center of the barn, his legs spread wide and tied securely to the horse's legs. He was bent over, completely exposed and utterly helpless.
Susan circled him slowly, the tip of her crop tracing patterns on his skin. "David, you see yourself as a man of consequence. A man in control. But control is an illusion. It's something that is given, or taken." She stopped behind him. "And I am taking it."
The first stroke of the crop was a sharp, stinging line of fire across his buttocks. David yelped, the sound muffled by the gag. Susan did not rush. She delivered each blow with a measured, sadistic precision, her aim true. Red welts began to criss-cross his skin. She was not just punishing him; she was enjoying it. Her eyes gleamed with a feral light, a small, satisfied smile playing on her lips as he flinched and writhed.
Celia and Eleanor watched, their expressions unreadable. This was Susan's show, a demonstration of a darker, more brutal form of domination than they had practiced. They saw the raw pleasure she took in his pain, the way her body seemed to hum with energy with every stroke of the crop.
After what felt like an eternity to David, Susan stopped. She ran her hand over his burning skin, making him flinch. "That's for your arrogance," she whispered. Then she picked up a long, thin leather strap. "This is for your stupidity."
The whipping that followed was far worse than the cropping. The strap wrapped around his thighs and back, leaving deep, bruising marks. David was sobbing now, his body slumped against the vaulting horse, all resistance gone. He was a broken, pleading thing, his muffled cries filling the dusty air of the barn.
But Susan was not finished with the psychological torment. She nodded to Celia, who picked up a pair of nipple clamps, joined by a thin chain. She attached them to David's sensitive nipples, tightening them until he gasped in pain. Eleanor then brought over a small leather pouch filled with metal weights, which she hung from the chain, pulling his nipples downwards. The constant, aching pressure was a new kind of agony.
Finally, Susan held up the steel cage, identical to the ones Frank and Arthur wore. "This is your future, David," she said, her voice calm and reasonable, which somehow made it more terrifying. "This is your new reality. You will wear this always. You will serve me. You will obey me in all things. Your body, your mind, your very will, they all belong to me now. Your life as you knew it is over."
She knelt in front of him, forcing him to look at her. His face was a mess of tears, snot, and sweat. His eyes were wide with a terror so profound it was almost palpable. He saw no trace of the woman he loved, only a cold, beautiful stranger who held his life in her hands. He tried to speak, to beg, to promise anything, but the gag turned his words into a pathetic, incomprehensible mumble.
Susan unbuckled the gag. "Now," she said softly. "What do you have to say to me?"
The words that came out of David's mouth were a broken, sobbing cascade of surrender. "Stop," he begged, his voice hoarse and cracked. "Please, Susan, stop. I'll do anything. Anything you want. I swear. I'll be good. I'll obey you. Just... please... no more."
Susan looked at Celia and Eleanor, a triumphant smile on her face. The training was a success. David Vance, the man of consequence, was gone. In his place was a whimpering, broken slave, ready to be molded into the husband Susan desired. The Sisterhood of Rochester had claimed its third victim.
