Chapter 2

The afternoon sun filtered through the half-drawn blinds of my condo, casting long shadows across the living room floor. I sat on the couch, wrapped in my soft terrycloth robe, the fabric a gentle buffer against the world outside. My body ached with every shift, each movement sending waves of soreness through my thighs, back, and chest. The cream the Doctor had prescribed dulled the sharp pain, turning it into a constant throb, but it couldn’t erase the memories etched into my skin. My fingers traced the thin green public collar around my neck, the gold clasp cool against my pulse. “S.O.R. 002986.” My number. My new identity. It felt like a lifeline—and yet a chain.

In the kitchen, Sandra moved quietly, preparing something light—soup, maybe, or tea. Mimi had left earlier, her marks fading faster than mine, but Sandra had stayed, a calm presence in the midst of my swirling thoughts. She’d explained the basics of my rest period: no sexual duties, no heavy lifting, just time to heal and reflect. But reflection was a double-edged sword. Every quiet moment seemed to draw out more questions—about the ceremony, my submission, and why I had signed those papers.

Why had I done this?

The words of the contract echoed in my mind: “I forfeit all rights to the use of my person.” In the haze of exhaustion, it had felt like destiny a path I was meant to walk. But now, sitting in the aftermath, doubt gnawed at me. Family whispers, remnants of my past, hovered like shadows I couldn’t quite grasp. My father, Bill, and Miss Bess, Beverly... they had shaped me in ways I couldn’t fully understand. But how deep did those roots run? And Master Carl—his voice last night calling me “Patty,” a name only my father used—stirred something unsettling. It didn’t fit.

The cell phone buzzed on the coffee table—the one designated for Society calls. My heart lurched. Sandra poked her head out from the kitchen. “That’s probably him. Answer it—rest period doesn’t mean ignoring calls.”

I picked up the phone, my voice steadier than I felt. “Hello, Sir.”

“Patricia,” Master Carl’s deep, familiar timbre washed over me, both commanding and warm. “How are you faring this afternoon?”

I hesitated. The debrief he had promised hung between us like an unspoken truth. Internal conflict surged: relief at hearing him, but also anger, a sense of betrayal. He’d watched it all, hadn’t intervened. “I’m... sore, Sir. The Doctor says three weeks minimum for recovery. But mentally…” I trailed off, my fingers tightening around the phone.

“Speak freely, Patricia. You know the truth is the most important thing.”

The words spilled out, raw and unfiltered. “Sir, last night... you didn’t stop it. Mistress Danielle and the Prince—they pushed me to my breaking point. And you… you just watched. After all the sessions, the training… why didn’t you step in? Why didn’t you take me? And... ‘Patty’?” I swallowed, the weight of the question heavy. “How do you know that name? My father used to call me that. Bill—my father. And Beverly, Miss Bess... are you connected to them? Family? It doesn’t make sense.”

There was a long silence on the line, and when he spoke again, his voice was steady, measured, with a hint of something deeper. “Patricia, your heritage runs deeper in this world than you know. Bill and Beverly... they were pioneers, in their own way, shaping lives like yours. As for me, my connection to you is not a story for today. It’s one you’ll learn in time. Trust that it’s rooted in care, not coincidence. As for last night... I am your Master, not your savior. The ceremony is designed to test resolve—yours and mine. Intervening would have undermined that. You survived because you're strong. Your pain... it was necessary for growth.”

The word "necessary" twisted in my gut. I wanted to rage, to demand more answers, to know if he was a relative, if he was someone from my past. The thought made my skin crawl, but it also made a sick kind of sense. Yet another part of me, the part he’d nurtured, longed for his approval.

“I... I feel betrayed, Sir. Like you abandoned me.”

“Not abandoned—guided. Now, let’s focus on your recovery. Light tasks: journal your emotions daily. Raw, honest. Confusion, anger, desire—everything. It helps process. And Kegel exercises—twice a day. Focus on control; it'll remind you of your purpose.”

I nodded, even though he couldn’t see me. The journaling felt invasive—like a way to expose my soul further—but the Kegels… I clenched experimentally, sending a dull ache through my core, mingled with a spark of something else. “Yes, Sir. I’ll do them.”

“Good girl. Sandra will guide you through the web portal. Log your first entry today—reflect on those feelings of betrayal. Honesty will help you grow.”

The call ended, leaving me adrift. Hints of family ties—Bill and Beverly as “pioneers,” Master Carl’s knowledge of “Patty”—all these fragments gnawed at me. Was he really family? The thought seemed absurd, horrifying, yet the pieces somehow fit together in a dark, twisted way. Confusion swirled inside me: loyalty to him, the sting of abandonment, and the pull of submission.

Sandra entered with a laptop, snapping me out of my thoughts. “Heard the call—time for web integration. This is the Society’s secure portal.” She set the laptop down on the coffee table. “Encrypted app, password-protected. Logs obedience, views member requests, schedules 'services.' Think of it as your digital leash.”

I stared at the sleek, black-and-gold interface: tabs for “Daily Logs,” “Requests,” “Schedules,” and “Training Modules.” Sandra guided me through the login process. “Logs are mandatory during active periods,” she explained. “Emotions, activities, health—everything. Members can view anonymized versions, to keep you accountable.”

I hesitated, my fingers hovering over the blank entry field. Finally, I began to type, my thoughts spilling out in a raw flood: confusion over Master Carl’s identity, the sting of his non-intervention, the mixed emotions of pain and unwanted arousal. “He watched them break me,” I wrote, each word laced with the turmoil in my chest. “Why? Family ties? It hurts, but… I still crave his approval.” Hitting "submit" felt like exposing a piece of myself to the world. The portal pinged a confirmation, a quiet nod from the Society.

Just as I closed the laptop, a knock sounded at the door. Sandra answered, returning with a sleek black box. “Delivery—Society care package.”

I opened it carefully. Inside was a set of healing creams—antiseptic, soothing—and a video hookup kit, complete with cameras, wires, and instructions. There was a note: “Install by Friday or renounce. Your choice: integration or freedom.”

The decision loomed before me, heavy with consequences. The kit symbolized both care and surveillance, a reminder of the deepening integration. The package spoke of surrender, and yet, so did my feelings—desire for approval, a sense of belonging that felt more real every day.

Sandra explained the setup instructions for the kit, but I barely heard her. Inside, conflict churned. The path ahead was clear: integration, no matter the cost. Friday’s deadline loomed, a final choice that could change everything.
