Chapter 4 of 23
Tears welled in her eyes, hot and humiliating. She looked at Akiko, hoping for some flicker of solidarity, of womanly compassion. But Ms. Tanaka just stared back, her face an unreadable mask, a silent witness to her downfall. There was no help there. There was only Richard's calm, patient gaze and the terrible, crushing weight of her reality. She had nowhere else to go. No one else to turn to.
With trembling fingers, she reached for the buttons of her silk blouse. Each one felt like a monumental effort. She slipped it off, folded it mechanically, and placed it on the floor. Her skirt followed, then her tights. Soon, she stood in the center of the room, clad only in her plain white bra and panties, the black leather of the collar a stark, obscene contrast against her pale skin. She felt naked in a way she never had before, stripped not just of her clothes but of her last vestige of dignity.
Richard rose from his chair. He moved with an unhurried grace, circling his desk until he stood before her. He sat down on the large, leather visitor's chair, the one Akiko had just vacated. He patted his thigh.
"Over my knee," he said.
It wasn't a request. It was a command. Her mind screamed in protest, but her body, conditioned by weeks of submission, obeyed. She bent across his lap, her hands bracing against the plush carpet, her bottom raised, vulnerable and exposed. She could feel the rough wool of his trousers against her stomach, the solid strength of his thighs beneath her. She buried her face in her arms, squeezing her eyes shut, waiting.
The first smack came without warning. It was a hard, flat crack of flesh on flesh that echoed in the silent room. A sharp, searing pain bloomed across her right buttock. She gasped, her body jolting.
"This," Richard said, his voice calm and conversational, "is for forgetting your place." The second smack landed on her left cheek, just as hard. "And this is for questioning Ms. Tanaka's authority."
He began a slow, methodical rhythm. Smack. A pause. Smack. Each one was a deliberate, measured punishment. He wasn't angry; he was teaching. The pain was intense, a white-hot fire that spread through her with each blow. She tried to hold back her cries, to bite her lip, but by the sixth smack, a sob escaped her. By the tenth, tears were streaming down her face, dripping onto the carpet.
He continued, counting them off in his steady, maddening voice. "Eleven. For your arrogance. Twelve. For thinking you still knew best." The humiliation was worse than the pain. Here she was, a thirty-five-year-old woman, being spanked like a child in front of her employee. The heat from her bottom was a burning shame that consumed her.
He reached the twentieth and final smack. It landed with a resounding crack that seemed to suck all the air out of the room. He held her there for a moment, his hand resting on the burning globes of her bottom, the heat from his palm a strange counterpoint to the fire he had just ignited.
"You may get up now," he said, his tone returning to its normal, business-like register.
She scrambled off his lap, her movements clumsy, her face a mess of tears and humiliation. She stood before him, sniffling, unable to meet his eyes.
"Get dressed," he commanded.
She fumbled with her clothes, her hands shaking so badly she could barely fasten her bra. The fabric of her skirt and blouse felt like sandpaper against her tender, punished skin. Once she was presentable, save for her tear-streaked face, Richard looked at her.
"Now," he said, "you will apologize to Ms. Tanaka."
Victoria turned to the other woman, who had watched the entire spectacle with an unnerving stillness. "I... I'm sorry, Ms. Tanaka," she mumbled, the words tasting like ash.
Akiko gave a slight, crisp nod. "Apology accepted," she said, her voice as cool and composed as if she'd just witnessed a routine business transaction. "In fact, this incident has clarified a few things. Victoria, as of this moment, you are relieved of your duties as general assistant. You will now be my personal assistant. Your sole function is to anticipate my needs and ensure my workflow is uninterrupted. Furthermore, Mr. Sterling has granted me his full authority to take matters into my own hands should your performance or conduct be found lacking again. This way, he will not have to be bothered with such... trivialities."
The finality of it landed like a punch to the gut. She wasn't just a subordinate; she was Akiko's personal handmaiden, a chattel to be managed by her manager.
"Akiko," Richard said, "thank you for your discretion. Victoria, go and wait in Ms. Tanaka's office. We need a word."
A fresh wave of despair washed over Victoria. To be dismissed, sent away like a child while the adults talked. Her feet felt like lead as she walked to the door. Her hand was on the doorknob when Richard's voice stopped her.
"Victoria."
She froze, her back to him.
"You're forgetting something."
Tears of shame pricked her eyes again. She knew what he meant. She turned around, her gaze fixed on the floor. "Yes... Sir," she whispered, the word a capitulation.
She left the office, closing the door softly behind her. The moment the latch clicked, the atmosphere in the room transformed.
The frost on the windows began to recede, light slowly bleeding back into the room. Akiko's severe composure melted away like ice in the sun. A slow, triumphant smile spread across her face. She rose from her chair just as Richard came around the desk to meet her.
They were in each other's arms in an instant, a kiss that was anything but business-like. It was deep, possessive, and hungry, a meeting of true partners. Richard's hands gripped her, pulling her flush against him.
"She's almost ready," Akiko murmured against his lips, her voice losing its clipped formality and becoming something softer, more intimate.
"She's breaking beautifully," Richard agreed, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of lust and satisfaction as he looked towards the door Victoria had just exited. "The defiance was the last test. She failed, just as we knew she would."
Akiko laughed, a low, throaty sound. "She actually thought she was right about that campaign. The arrogance is still there, just buried under all that fear. It will be fun to dig it out again, just to watch you put it back in its place."
"Patience, my love," Richard said, stroking her hair. "The foundation must be solid before we can build the masterpiece." He tilted her chin up, his gaze intense. "Soon," he promised, his voice a low, conspiratorial whisper. "Very soon now, Victoria will be introduced to her new life as our cuckquean."
The word hung in the air between them, dark and delicious. Akiko's smile widened, her eyes flashing with predatory delight. The stage was set. The lead actress had just played her most humbling scene, and she didn't even know she was part of a much bigger, more thrilling production. Her breaking was not an end; it was a beginning.
