I lost track of the number of times I called myself a complete fool. I even used many stronger words to describe the situation I found myself in.

I had had quite a while to think about how I got into the situation I found myself in; although I don’t know exactly how long, as I had no watch and I couldn’t see a clock.

Describing my predicament won’t help you understand how I got into this position; but let me describe it anyway and then, as I have nothing else to do, I will tell you how I got here.
