Chapter 30 of 31
I realised I hadn’t been restrained apart from my wrists still being bound and of course I was still cruelly gagged.
I got up and listened at the top of the stairs but there were no sounds. I quickly searched the house but I was alone. It seemed the women had forgotten to chain me to the bed and my “owners” had gone out. This was my chance to escape.
I went to the kitchen and used a knife to cut the ropes – not easy when your wrists are behind your back but I managed it. That allowed me to get rid of the gag and drink some water.
I went looking for my clothes but I couldn’t find them or indeed any alternatives to what I was wearing. I collected the documents from the bureau and quickly searched the rest of the house. I came across a wallet, which wasn’t mine, but it yielded £50 and incredibly my own phone both of which would be useful in my escape.
I knew there was a back way out of my house which led through the garden into an alleyway, so I made my escape that way. At that stage I had no idea where I was going; I just needed to get away and then set about rebuilding my life.
Conscious of what I was wearing I kept in the bushes whilst I thought about my next move.
The only place I could think to go was to my sister. She lived about 20 miles away in a small village. I used my phone to order an uber to take me there.
When it arrived I told the driver I was going to a fancy dress party and he seemed to accept that! The journey to my sister’s was done in silence which was OK by me.
Fortunately she was in when I knocked on the door but when she opened the door she was clearly shocked because “I” had told her I was going travelling for a long time and not to worry about me. Equally I was standing there wearing a dress!
Over a cup of tea I explained what had happened and she couldn’t believe it. She made me tell her exactly what I had been put through. Of course I didn’t tell her everything but she got the idea.
‘Could you pop down to the shops and get me something to wear’, I asked offering her the £50 I had found. She smiled in a way that took me back to our childhood. She is 5 years older than me and used to boss me around. ‘I quite like you wearing those things!’ she said with a smirk, ‘so I think you can stay like that for a while!
She made me some food and we talked further about what to do. Clearly it was important to protect what savings I still had. My sister got her laptop out and I logged into my account and at her suggestion transferred the contents to her account for safe keeping. I could trust her after all!
Natasha told me to use the laptop to write down everything, and she meant everything that had happened, whilst it was fresh in my mind. I wasn’t sure it was a good idea but she said it would help.
Once I had finished I was feeling incredibly tired. My sister made up a spare bed and I lay down on it without getting undressed and I was asleep in minutes.
