Chapter 7 of 10
The days after Birdie's punishment were the worst. Every time Wendy brought the children food and water, the little girl would shrink back and hide. The other children didn't speak to her. Their gazes were a mixture of fear and silent accusation. Wendy was no longer their protector; she was the messenger of pain, the hand that selected the victim. The hatred she saw in their eyes was worse than any blow from Hook, because it was justified.
She knew she couldn't bear it again. The thought of having to choose another child was a blade slowly turning in her mind. She had to get better. She had to win the game, because the stakes were too high to lose.
On her next visit to the hold, as the other children turned away from her, Tiger Lily stepped out of the shadows. Her face was hard, but in her eyes, there was no condemnation, only a cold, pragmatic determination. "You're doing everything wrong," she said quietly, her voice barely a whisper, but sharp as obsidian.
Wendy flinched. "But I'm trying."
"No," Tiger Lily contradicted. "You're trying to be a lamb pretending to be a wolf. That doesn't work. A man like him smells the fear beneath the perfume. He doesn't want fear. Fear is too easy for him. He wants to be conquered."
Wendy stared at her, uncomprehending. "Conquered? He has all the power."
"He has power over our bodies," Tiger Lily corrected. "But you are the only one who can have power over his mind. He doesn't want submissive slavery. He wants an equal adversary in bed. Someone who challenges him, who plays with him. He wants a queen he can conquer, not a maid he can break."
She stepped closer, her dark eyes fixing Wendy. "You think this is about sex. That's your mistake. It's about power. You have to stop being the victim. You have to become the huntress. When he looks at you, he must not see a frightened girl. He must see a woman who knows exactly what she wants and is not afraid to take it."
"But... how?" Wendy whispered.
"Stop thinking like Wendy Darling from London," Tiger Lily said insistently. "Become someone else. Create a role and play it as if your life depends on it—because it does. And the lives of all of us." She grabbed Wendy's hand. "When he touches you, don't flinch. Lean into it. When he kisses you, don't just return it. Taste him. Bite him. Let him feel that you are alive. When you are riding him, don't close your eyes and think of England. Look him in the eye and show him that you are the one in control. It's a lie. But you have to make it the most convincing lie of your life."
These words were an anchor in Wendy's stormy sea of despair. It was a terrible, twisted plan, but it was a plan.
When the red dress appeared on her bed again, Wendy took a deep breath. She was not Wendy. She was a queen. A huntress. A liar.
The rendezvous began as always. But when Hook poured her wine, she held his hand fast with hers. "Let me do that," she said, her voice deep and a little husky. She took the bottle from him and served him. She looked him straight in the eye as she did so, a small, knowing smile on her lips.
Hook watched her, a flicker of cruel amusement in his eyes. A remarkable change, he thought. Where has last week's trembling doe gone? She looked him straight in the eye, and while he could see her smile was still a lie, it was a much better, more confident one. She had certainly learnt her lesson. Fear, it seemed, had made her a faster student than he had expected. This would be interesting.
They barely ate. Instead, she asked him questions. Not about stars, but about his scars. About his conquests. She didn't pretend to be shocked, but fascinated.
When they went to the bed, it was she who led him. She slowly undressed before him, letting the dress slide to the floor, but she did it not like a victim baring herself, but like a dancer revealing her masterpiece. "This time," she whispered, standing naked before him, "I make the rules."
She gently pushed him onto the bed and leaned over him. Her kisses were no longer hesitant, but demanding, almost aggressive. Her hands explored his body not with fear, but with a rehearsed curiosity. When she sat on top of him, she thought of Tiger Lily's words. Look him in the eye. And she did. She stared into the dark depths of his soul as she moved. She forced herself to maintain control, to set the rhythm. She moaned, but it was no longer a false whimper. It was a deep, hoarse sound that came from her throat, a hymn to her own desperate willpower. She bit his shoulder, not hard, but enough to make him flinch.
It was the most exhausting performance of her life. Every fibre of her body screamed, but her mind was cold and clear. She was not here. Someone else was here. A queen. A whore. A survivor.
When it was over and she lay panting beside him, there was a new kind of silence. Not the usual icy disappointment, but a thoughtful, almost respectful quiet.
The next morning, as she sat dressed at the table while he ate, she waited for the verdict. She was trembling inside, but outwardly she remained calm, staring out the window.
After an eternity, he said, "That was... better. Significantly better."
Wendy closed her eyes. A single tear of relief escaped from the corner of her eye.
"It was still a performance," he continued, and her hope sank. "But it was a good performance. One I almost believed." He stood up and stepped behind her. He placed his human hand on her shoulder. "For that, there is no punishment today."
Wendy nearly collapsed. "But be warned, Wendy," he whispered in her ear, his breath warm on her skin. "The bar is now set higher. And I expect you to surpass it every time. The next lesson will be to turn the lie into truth."
He let her go and left. Wendy sat there for a long time. She had done it. She had turned the corner. She had saved the children, for today. But she had also sacrificed a part of herself that would never return. She had learnt to lie, to seduce, to survive. And she knew this was only the beginning.
The small spark of hope Wendy had felt after her "successful" night was deceptive. The bar was now set higher, and the fear of failure was a constant companion. Her performance had been an improvisation, a desperate feat of strength. She knew she couldn't repeat it often without Hook seeing through the facade.
The next time she entered the hold, the atmosphere had changed. Birdie still cowered in the corner, but the other children no longer looked at Wendy with hatred, but with a new, terrible kind of dependence. She was no longer just the betrayer; she was also their only, fragile protective wall.
Tiger Lily was already waiting for her. She pulled Wendy into the darkest part of the room, away from the others' ears. "You've bought time," she whispered. "But you haven't solved the problem. A good performance isn't enough. You have to become a master."
In the following days, the hold became Wendy's secret school, and Tiger Lily her relentless teacher. Hook must have noticed her longer visits with the children. Wendy felt his invisible observation. But he didn't intervene. He suspects, Wendy thought with a shudder. He knows something is going on. And he likes it. It amuses him that his victims are training themselves to serve him better.
The lessons were practical, demystified, and deeply alienating. Tiger Lily took two leather handles from unused whips that were in a box. They were smooth, hard, and phallically shaped. "You must learn to control your mouth," she explained coolly. "Suppress your gag reflex. Use your tongue and lips as tools, not as passive parts of your body."
Under Tiger Lily's unyielding guidance, Wendy practised. She learnt to breathe deeply, to relax the muscles in her throat, and to hold the hard handle in her mouth without gagging. It was a humiliating, mechanical exercise, miles away from tenderness or passion.
"Good," Tiger Lily said after a while. "Now for the more important lesson." She had Wendy sit on the floor. "The muscles in here," she said, pointing to Wendy's abdomen, "are the strongest in your body. You think you are just a vessel for him. Wrong. You can be a vice. A wave. A hand. You must learn to massage him, to hold him, to control him. From the inside." She taught Wendy how to isolate and contract her pelvic floor muscles, in rhythms, in waves, with varying intensity. They were exercises that required concentration and a deep connection to her own body—a body that Wendy had come to hate.
"How... how do you know all this?" Wendy asked one day, her voice fragile after a strenuous practice session.
A rare, melancholic expression flickered across Tiger Lily's face. "In my tribe, this is women's knowledge," she said quietly. "Our grandmothers teach it to us when we are girls. It is a gift. It is meant to ensure our men are faithful to us, that the bond is strong, and that we find joy in our bodies. It is a part of our power." She glanced at the whip handles on the floor. "I never thought I would have to use this gift in such a way."
The days passed, and Wendy felt a change. Not in her heart, but in her body. She was gaining a control that felt eerie to her. But Tiger Lily was not yet satisfied. "It's not enough," she said one evening. "We're practising dry. You don't know how it feels. You don't know the reaction. You need a... dress rehearsal."
Wendy stared at her in horror. "What do you mean?"
Tiger Lily's gaze was unwavering. "The theory is complete. Now comes the practice." She looked toward the corner where two of the older lost boys were sitting, talking quietly. "They are boys. Soon to be men," Tiger Lily continued, as if it were the most logical conclusion in the world. "They can help you. Help us all. You can practise on them. And they can tell you how it feels. Their perspective, their reaction... that is the last piece of information you need to perfect your performance."
Wendy stumbled back as if she had been struck. "No," she gasped. "They... they are children. Boys. I can't do that. Never."
"Do you think I'm suggesting this because I enjoy it?" Tiger Lily hissed. "Do you think it's worse than what happened to Birdie? Or to the next child you choose because your technique wasn't good enough? We are long past the point of 'right' and 'wrong,' Wendy. It's only about what is necessary to survive."
Wendy's "No" echoed in the damp silence of the hold. It was not a loud word, but it carried the full weight of her remaining morality. "I can't. I won't do it."
Tiger Lily looked at her not with anger, but with a kind of exhausted pity. "Then be prepared to choose again tomorrow morning, Wendy. And the day after. Until you learn, or until there are no children left for you to choose." With those words, she turned and left Wendy alone with the monstrosity of her suggestion.
Wendy sank to the floor by a wooden crate as one of the boys, Cubby, stepped out of the shadows. "I'll do it," he said, his voice firm, though his face was pale. "We are prisoners in a war. This is... standing watch."
Tiger Lily returned and nodded at him with grim respect. "The decision has been made for you, Wendy. Don't waste it."
And so it happened. In the darkest corner of the hold, shielded by two heavy, stiff canvases, an impromptu stage was set for a tragedy.
It was not a sexual act that took place here. It was a vivisection of the soul, a cold, clinical lesson. Cubby sat on a crate, his hands clenched into fists. He was visibly frightened. Between his legs was nothing but flaccid, startled skin. He was miles from an erection. Wendy knelt before him, an empty shell. Tiger Lily stood beside them in the semi-darkness. "He's scared," she whispered. "That's your first lesson. A man isn't always ready. Sometimes you have to make him ready."
Her instructions were precise, emotionless, like those of a surgeon. "Forget shame. Shame is a luxury we cannot afford. Use your hands. No, not like that. Softer. Find the rhythm."
Wendy followed the instructions mechanically. Her fingers, which had once held only embroidery needles and teacups, learnt a new, terrible language. Tiger Lily corrected her posture, the pressure, the speed. "Now your mouth," she commanded. Wendy closed her eyes and obeyed. It was a sterile, technical exercise that had nothing to do with tenderness or lust.
Under her clumsy but persistent efforts, Cubby's body finally began to respond. He gasped, and almost in the same moment, it was over. A short, convulsive twitch, a pathetic ejaculation that was hardly worth mentioning. He came far too quickly.
Tiger Lily sighed softly. "That's not enough," she stated. "His fear is too great. And you need more practice. Different practice." She left the partitioned area and returned with the other three lost boys. They were frightened but understood the necessity. "You will all help," Tiger Lily explained coolly. "One by one. This is not a game. This is survival training."
What followed was a surreal and grotesque ritual. Wendy knelt while the boys took turns. From her initial humiliation grew a strange, cold fascination. She became a scientist studying an unexplored phenomenon. She saw their members, one by one. Some were still very small and hairless, barely more than a child's, surrounded by soft down. Others were more developed, darker, larger, a promise of the men they would, Hook willing, one day become. She learnt the differences in shape and reaction. She became an expert on the anatomy of her friends. But for all the variety, one realisation was devastating: none of these members, not even the most developed, came remotely close to what she had felt with the captain. The memory of his size and hardness was a silent threat in the background.
She practised on them. Again and again. First, she brought each one to climax with her mouth, refining her technique under Tiger Lily's watchful eyes until she could predict each boy's reactions. Then came the next lesson.
"Now you must learn to use your body," Tiger Lily said. "It's not about what you feel. It's about what he feels. You must learn to control him with your vagina. To massage him."
And so she continued to practise. She learnt to use her muscles, to vary the rhythm, to control the pressure. The boys were her test subjects, her unwilling teachers. The initial shame gave way to a mechanical routine. It was her job, her duty, her only way.
When the lessons were finally over hours later, Wendy was left alone. She was no longer the girl who had entered this hold. She was something else. A weapon, honed and cold. She had learnt the techniques. She had paid the price with her soul and the innocence of her friends.
The evening of her next rendezvous came, and for the first time, Wendy felt no paralysing fear. In its place was a cold, hard determination. She was no longer the trembling lamb being led to the slaughter. She was a soldier heading into a decisive battle. She had trained. She had sacrificed. She had been given weapons she never knew existed. Tonight, she would not just survive. She would win.
When Smee brought her the red velvet dress, she put it on not like a victim, but like a coat of armour. She looked at herself in the dim mirror. Her gaze was no longer that of a frightened girl. It was that of a woman who had looked into the abyss and decided to make it her ally.
The dinner was a repeat of the previous ones, yet the roles had shifted. Wendy ate, she drank, she parried Hook's witty remarks with a cool, almost amused smile. She was no longer the passive listener; she was an equal participant in this macabre game.
After dinner, in his sleeping cabin, she did not wait for him to take the initiative. As he closed the door, she turned to him and, with practised fingers, began to undo the hooks of her own dress. She let it slide to the floor and stood before him, naked and without the feigned shame of previous times. "Let me do that," she whispered, and began to open his waistcoat.
She led him to the bed. Every one of her movements was calculated, every touch precise. She applied Tiger Lily's lessons not hesitantly, but with a shocking efficiency. She used her mouth, her hands, her body exactly as she had been taught. She was no longer a victim enduring something. She was the actor.
At first, Hook was impressed. More than that, he was aroused. The unexpected aggression, the technical finesse—it was an intoxicating contrast to her previous, clumsy performance. He closed his eyes and gave himself over to the moment, surprised by the wave of pure, physical pleasure. She knew exactly what she was doing. She responded to him, anticipated his desires, controlled the rhythm with an almost supernatural confidence.
But then, at the height of his arousal, a thought crept into his mind. A memory. Where did he know this specific movement from? This way of swaying the hips, this particular technique with the lips? It was a practised, a... professional move. It was perfect, but it was empty. It was the perfection of a mechanic, not an emotion.
And suddenly, he was no longer in his cabin with Wendy Darling. He was in a filthy port tavern in Port Royal, the moans of a whore he had bought for a few coins in his ears. He was in Tortuga, the smell of cheap rum and sweat in his nose, while a woman with dead eyes performed the exact same rehearsed movements on him that Wendy was performing now. It was the same empty competence, the same passionless performance aimed at satisfying a man as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Hook's words hung like poison in the cabin air. "You disgust me." Each syllable was a hammer blow, shattering Wendy's carefully constructed facade. The hope she had drawn from Tiger Lily's lessons crumbled to dust. He stood there, already fully dressed again, looking down at her as if she were vermin he had found in his bed. His eyes, which just moments before had looked at her with feigned lust, were now filled with an icy contempt worse than any anger.
"Smee!" he bellowed at the door.
The door flew open as if Smee had been waiting right behind it. The mate glanced from Hook's furious face to the naked, trembling Wendy on the bed and swallowed nervously.
"Take her away," Hook commanded, not taking his eyes off Wendy. "Throw her in the same cell as before. Put her in irons. I don't want to see her again."
Two sailors who had appeared behind Smee grabbed Wendy roughly by the arms. They tore her from the bed without giving her a moment to cover herself. They dragged her out of the cabin, across the cold wooden floor of the corridor, down the stairs into the darkness of the ship's hull. The gazes of the few pirates they encountered were a mixture of greed and mockery. It was the ultimate humiliation.
They threw her into the damp, stinking cell and closed the heavy iron shackles around her wrists and ankles. The door slammed shut, and she was alone in the darkness, with only the soft lapping of bilge water and the whimpering of rats for company. She had played. And she had lost everything.
