Chapter 3 of 23
The wedding day dawned with an oppressive grey sky that mirrored the storm churning in Mark's gut. He felt like a man walking to his own execution, dressed in a tailored suit that felt more like a straitjacket. His best man, Tom, arrived with a cheerfulness that grated on Mark's frayed nerves, clapping him on the back and grinning like a fox in a henhouse.
"Ready for the big day, champ?" Tom boomed, his eyes crinkling with amusement.
Mark managed a weak smile. "As ready as I'll ever be."
The drive to the chapel was a blur of scenery and Tom's incessant, meaningless chatter about football and work. Mark's mind was elsewhere, replaying the humiliations of the past months, the cage a constant, heavy reminder of his subservience. He was a prize bull being led to slaughter, and the butcher was his own best friend.
At the chapel, they were ushered into a small, wood-panelled dressing room. The air was thick with the cloying scent of lilies. Tom was rummaging in his bag when he looked up, a strange expression on his face.
"Almost forgot," he said, holding out a small, neatly wrapped parcel. "Eleanor gave this to me for you. Said she had to... run an errand. Told me to make sure you got it privately."
Mark took the package, his heart sinking. It was light, soft to the touch. His fingers trembled as he tore at the paper. Inside, nestled in a bed of tissue paper, was a pair of exquisite silk panties. They were a delicate, dusty rose, with intricate lace trim. They were unmistakably feminine and unmistakably for him.
He stared at them, a cold dread washing over him. What was this? A final test? A new layer of torment? His phone buzzed in his pocket, the vibration making him jump. He fumbled for it, his hands shaking. The screen read: ELEANOR. He swallowed hard and answered.
"Yes, Ma'am," he said, the honorific a conditioned response, a verbal leash she had snapped around his neck months ago.
"Mark," her voice purred through the receiver, smooth and commanding. "Did you receive my little gift?"
"Yes, Ma'am," he whispered, his eyes fixed on the silk in his hand.
"And are you confused, silly boy?" she asked, her tone dripping with condescension.
"I... I'm not sure what it means, Ma'am."
"It means they are for you to wear. Under your suit trousers. For the ceremony."
"Ma'am, I... I can't," he stammered, a wave of nausea rising in his throat. "People might see. Sarah..."
"You can, and you will," she cut him off, her voice losing its softness, turning to ice. "You will wear them because I told you to. Think of it as your wedding present to Sarah. A way to show her you are adventurous and open-minded. It will make you look like an excited lover, trembling with anticipation beneath your formal exterior. It will prove your devotion. Now, put them on. Or do I need to come down there and help you?"
The threat was implicit, a promise of pain and public humiliation. "No, Ma'am," he said quickly. "I'll... I'll put them on."
"Good boy," she cooed, her voice returning to its silky smoothness. "See you at the altar."
He hung up, his head in his hands, his face burning with shame as he shucked off his trousers and boxer shorts. The silk was cool and alien against his skin, a constant, whispered reminder of his powerlessness as he pulled his trousers back up. The delicate lace felt like a brand.
The ceremony itself was a surreal performance. Mark stood at the altar, his body rigid, the soft brush of the panties against his thighs a maddening, secret torment. He spoke his vows in a monotone, his eyes fixed on Sarah's radiant face. She was the picture of a blushing bride, but as he slid the ring onto her finger, he thought he saw a flicker of something else in her eyes—not love, but triumph. A cold, predatory satisfaction. The kiss, when it came, was perfunctory, a show for the crowd. He felt nothing.
The reception was a cacophony of noise, clinking glasses, and forced laughter. Mark went through the motions, smiling until his cheeks ached. He had the persistent, unnerving feeling that people from Sarah's side of the family, her bridesmaids and cousins, were giving him sideways glances, little smirks and whispered comments that were just out of earshot. He told himself it was his imagination, paranoia born from his situation. He drank more champagne than he should have, hoping to dull the edges of his anxiety.
Toward the end of the evening, as the band played a slow, syrupy waltz, Tom was loitering by the main table where Mark and Sarah were seated. Mark, oblivious to the world, didn't see Tom's hand disappear under the tablecloth, his fingers tracing a slow, deliberate path up and down Sarah's silk-clad thigh, occasionally pressing against the heat of her through her panties. Sarah's breath hitched almost imperceptibly, a tiny betraying gasp that she masked with a sip of champagne.
Eleanor glided over to the table, a vision in navy blue silk. "Sarah, darling, you look exquisite," she said, kissing her daughter's cheek. Then she turned her piercing gaze on Mark. " Would you mind if I stole Mark away for just a moment? There's something I need to discuss with him."
She winked at Sarah, a conspiratorial gesture that Mark didn't notice.
"Of course, Mother," Sarah said, her voice sweet as honey.
Eleanor took Mark's arm, her grip surprisingly strong, and led him away from the noise and light. As they disappeared towards the corridor, Tom excused himself to go to the restroom. Sarah watched him go, waited for a count of thirty, and then discreetly followed.
She found him not in the main restroom, but in a dimly lit back storage room, surrounded by stacks of folding chairs and tablecloths. The door clicked shut behind her, and they were in each other's arms in an instant. His mouth was hungry, demanding, his hands roving over the dress and lace that Mark had paid for.
"I could have been yours," she breathed into his ear, pushing him away slightly, her eyes flashing with a mix of lust and frustration. "You just had to say the word. Instead of this... farce."
Tom took her chin in his fingers, his gaze intense. “You already are," he said, his voice a low growl. Then he kissed her, a hard, possessive kiss that was nothing like the chaste peck Mark had received at the altar. He backed her against a stack of chairs, his hands hiking up her dress. "One for the road," he murmured against her neck. "A last good fucking before your honeymoon." Sarah melted against him, her fingers digging into his shoulders, all thoughts of her new husband forgotten.
Meanwhile, Eleanor had led Mark not to a quiet corner, but to the chapel administrator's office. It was a small, book-lined room, smelling of old paper and furniture polish. She closed the door and turned the lock, the click echoing in the silence.
"Strip," she commanded, her voice leaving no room for argument.
Mark's hands shook as he fumbled with his belt. He let his trousers fall around his ankles, standing there in his shirt, jacket, and the humiliating silk panties.
Eleanor moved closer, her scent a heady mix of expensive perfume and raw power. She reached out, her fingers tracing the outline of his cage through the delicate fabric. A jolt of unwanted pleasure, sharp and painful, shot through him. He was so starved for touch, so conditioned to her authority, that his body betrayed him. He closed his eyes.
She leaned in and kissed him, her lips soft but her tongue probing, claiming. It was a kiss of ownership, not affection. He was lost in it, lost in the sheer, overwhelming power she held over him, a prisoner who had come to love his chains.
She pulled back, her eyes boring into his. "You will be good to my little girl," she said, her voice dangerously low. "You will treat her like a queen. Because if you don't... if you make her unhappy in any way... You will have me to deal with."
Mark stared at her, his mind blank with fear. He said nothing, and that was his mistake.
Her hand shot out, her fingers tangling viciously in his hair, pulling his head back until he was looking at the ceiling. "I asked if you understood me," she hissed, her face inches from his.
"Yes! Yes, Ma'am, I understand!" he cried out, the pain in his scalp searing.
"Good," she said, releasing him with a shove. "Now, you have one more duty to perform before you head off on your honeymoon. One final act of devotion to show me you're ready."
She lifted her skirt, revealing she was wearing nothing underneath. Mark knew what he had to do. He sank to his knees on the worn office carpet, the scent of her filling his senses, the ultimate symbol of his defeat.
The drive to Cornwall was long, and Sarah chattered cheerfully about the cottage, the coastal walks, the quaint pubs, but Mark barely heard her. He was exhausted, emotionally and physically drained. The cage felt heavier than ever, a constant, throbbing presence between his legs. By the time they reached the secluded cottage, a whitewashed little place overlooking a windswept beach, all he wanted was sleep.
They both collapsed onto the bed, still partially dressed, and were asleep within minutes.
Mark woke the next morning with the sun, a sliver of bright light cutting through the gap in the curtains. For a moment, he forgot everything. He was a married man on his honeymoon. Excitement, pure and unadulterated, surged through him. Today was the day. If he was lucky, he would get some morning sex, and finally, finally, the diabolical cage would come off. He felt a grin spread across his face as he slipped out of bed.
He padded downstairs to the small kitchen, put the kettle on, and made toast and tea, humming to himself. He carried the tray back upstairs, feeling like a newlywed husband in a movie. Sarah was sitting up in bed, the sheets pooled around her waist, her hair a glorious tangle.
"Hello, handsome," she said, her voice husky with sleep.
He put the tray down and leaned over to kiss her, pouring all his hope and longing into it. It was a passionate kiss, or so he thought. She pushed him back gently, her eyes roaming over his body. He was naked but for the cage, and he could see the skin of his cock pushing through the metal bars as he tried, fruitlessly, to erect.
She smiled, a slow, predatory smile. She stroked her chin thoughtfully. "You know," she said, "there's something missing."
His heart sank. "What?"
"The panties," she said, her tone light, almost teasing. "They were such a lovely surprise. Put them back on for me." Her expression became a mock pout. "I was too tired last night to really enjoy it."
He stared at her, the hope inside him building. He wanted to refuse, to argue, but the habit of obedience was too strong. He forced a laugh that sounded brittle even to his own ears. "Okay," he said, turning to find the discarded silk.
He pulled them on. "Ohh, you look so cute," she cooed, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "Come on, then. Make my day."
She pulled the sheets back, opening her legs in a gesture of command. "What about this?" he asked, his voice cracking as he tapped a finger against the metal of his cage.
"All in good time," she said breezily. "Ladies first."
He smiled, the muscles in his face aching with the effort. He got between her legs and did his duty, his tongue and jaw working with the practised efficiency of a long-serving soldier. When she shuddered to a climax, she pushed his head away. He stood up, his body thrumming with desperate expectation, his eyes fixed on the chain that she wore around her neck that usually held the key
She smiled at him, a sweet, devastating smile. "Hand me my purse, would you, darling?"
He did, his heart thudding. She began to rummage through it, her brow furrowed in concentration. "Shit," she muttered. "Shit, shit, shit."
He looked at her, a knot of dread tightening in his stomach. "What? What is it?"
She looked up at him, her eyes wide with feigned horror. "I forgot it," she whispered. "The key. I must have left it on the dresser. At home. In Chatham."
The world tilted on its axis. Mark couldn't breathe. He felt the strength drain from his legs, and he slumped down onto the floor, his back against the bed. All the hope, all the desperate anticipation, evaporated, leaving only a hollow, aching void of frustration.
Sarah looked down at him, and he couldn't see the small, triumphant smile that played on her lips before she smoothed it away. She wanted to slap him, to slap the pathetic, hopeful look right off his face. But not yet. He wasn't broken enough. Soon, but not yet.
She slid out of bed and crouched down beside him, pulling him into a hug. "Calm down now, Mark," she soothed, stroking his hair. "It's only another two weeks."
Another surprise came when he unpacked his suitcase. He had forgotten to pack any underwear. He looked at the empty drawer, his face blank. Sarah tutted at him. "Oh, you silly thing," she said, not unkindly. "Well, you'll just have to wear mine, won't you?" She handed him a pair of her own worn, lacy panties from the laundry basket. "They're clean," she lied. "I did a wash yesterday." He could smell the faint, musky scent of her on them, a constant, maddening reminder of what he couldn't have.
The days fell into a new, torturous routine. He would wake her with oral sex, make her breakfast, and then they would go for long walks along the cliff tops. He found himself becoming more and more tired as the week went on, a bone-deep exhaustion that he couldn't shake. He would please her pussy in the evening, his jaw aching, then eat the snack and drink the drink that she had prepared for him. He would barely be able to keep his eyes open at the dinner table, his head nodding.
He fell asleep in his chair, his head pillowed on his arms. Sarah helped him to bed, kissing him on the cheek with a look of profound satisfaction. Ten minutes later, there was a gentle knock on the cottage door. She opened it, and Tom stood there, a duffel bag slung over his shoulder.
She stepped aside, and he walked in, his eyes immediately finding the sleeping form of her husband. Tom laughed, a low, contemptuous sound. Sarah came over to him, wrapping her arms around his waist, kissing his neck.
"Why are you doing this to him?" she whispered, a hint of something that might have been guilt in her voice. "To your best friend."
Tom laughed again, turning in her arms to look her in the eye. "Same reason as you and your mother are," he said, his voice cold and clear. "Because we can."
