Crazy Eight

3 - Post-Graduation

After they all graduated, their lives took different paths, but once a year they gathered at either a neutral venue or, where circumstances permitted, at one of their houses. There they would drink, probably more than they should, chatter and laugh, able to relax in the comfort of their close circle. The agreement was clear: no one outside of the crazy eight was allowed, and nothing was ever repeated outside of the group.

The process was quite simple in their group for the reunion. Even though they had a WhatsApp group that would ebb and flow with chatter each of them would give a summary of their past year, any major announcements and their dreams and plans for next year. Then they would drink outrageously, laugh and reminisce, often splitting into the same pairs they did when they shared rooms back in university days.

With their 30th birthdays approaching the next year, the main topic was what to do to commemorate that occasion. This year, they had all gathered at Sally and Karen’s large house that the pair shared.
