Chapter 22 of 24

The Coup

Two nights ago, Chloe received a call from an unknown number. The voice on the other end, distorted and mechanical, said they had information she should hear and a possible business opportunity. She was given the name of a pub and a time, and that was all. Chloe, naturally curious and always on the lookout for an edge, called David and asked him to chaperone her.

She arrived at the Man of Kent pub at the allotted time, the low-ceilinged, cozy atmosphere a stark contrast to the tension coiling in her stomach. She went to the bar and ordered a half-lager, and a girl came up beside her. "Chloe Holden, is that you?"

Chloe looked at the girl. She was certain she had never met her before, yet there was an unnerving confidence about her. The girl took Chloe's elbow. "Come on, love, come and meet my aunty."

Chloe was a little taken aback, but she picked up her lager and followed the girl through the crowd to a quiet corner table, where another, more imposing woman sat. As they approached, the woman stood and held out her hand. "Sheila. Hello, Chloe. Please sit down.”

David stood at the end of the bar, his massive frame a silent threat, watching them intently. He was ready to jump in at the slightest hint of trouble, while Chloe sat and chatted with the two strangers.

"I know your mother," Sheila began, her voice low and conspiratorial. "We met at a club in Gravesend. She was entertaining a client and enjoying the facilities." Sheila looked Chloe up and down with a deliberate, appraising gaze. "I can see the resemblance. Anyway, I'll keep this short. I don't want your man over there getting anxious."

As she spoke, she raised her glass and nodded in David's direction. David, recognizing the signal from a fellow player in their shadowy world, nodded back, his stance relaxing slightly.

"Your mum came to me with a proposition," Sheila continued, her eyes locking onto Chloe's. "She wants a bloke removed from your life. And from her description, that's him standing there."

Chloe shuffled forward in her seat, her heart pounding. This Sheila had her full attention now.

"It seems she's unhappy with the two of you," Sheila said, a cruel smile tugging at her lips. "She said she'd take care of you if we took care of him.”

Chloe tried to keep the surprise from her voice. "I don't understand. If you made a deal with Mum, why are you talking to me?"

"Because I'm a businesswoman," Sheila said, her voice sharp and pragmatic. "I want to make sure I'm backing the winning side."

“What do you mean?" asked Chloe.

"Well, your mother offered me a large sum of money, too much for a simple grab, which made me think there was much more to share. So I looked into her and found an interesting story. What's also interesting is that your brother was left everything in your father's will, and you and your mum got nothing." She paused for a drink, her eyes never leaving Chloe's face. "Then it was noticed that your brother had disappeared, and you and your mum were walking in and out of his home on St. Margaret's Street."

She continued, detailing Chloe and Miriam's movements, their client list, and the specific nature of their "business." She recounted their meetings with Cindy and the work being done on the house. Chloe was surprised and, despite herself, impressed by how thorough she was. Sheila Adams hadn't just been told a story; she had done her homework, digging into their lives with a professional's precision.

Sheila had the girl with her to show Chloe her phone. The girl tapped the screen, and Chloe's eyes widened in horror. She was seeing a live feed of her mother tying Simon to her bed and slapping his face. She watched, transfixed, as Miriam strapped something around her waist—a cock. She then rode it, using Simon's body to bring herself to a powerful orgasm. Chloe felt a cold knot of dread tighten in her stomach. She gave the phone back, her hands trembling slightly. They had everything.

"So what do you want from me?" Chloe asked, her voice barely a whisper.

Sheila smiled and patted Chloe's leg, the gesture both conspiratorial and possessive. "I want to take over all the companies your mother plans to sell once she gets what she wants from your brother."

They sat and chatted more, hunched over the table, their voices low. They struck a deal that benefited both of them, a new alliance forged in betrayal and ambition. Sheila told Chloe not to mention it to David, stressing that her mother had to believe everything was still going according to her plan. The element of surprise, Sheila explained, was their most valuable weapon.

Two days later, when Chloe received the call while she was in the basement with Simon, her heart skipped a beat; it had begun. She looked down at her brother, watching his face intently as she slowly, deliberately pulled the rubber cock out of him. She enjoyed the look of raw discomfort and humiliation on his face, the way his eyes squeezed shut at the sudden, invasive emptiness.

She laid the slick, used dildo on his stomach, then leaned down and kissed him softly on the lips, an intimate yet terrifying gesture. "Soon, Simon," she whispered, her voice a silken threat. "You'll have a choice to make. I hope you make the right one. I'm just getting used to having you around again."

She left him alone, still strapped down, the dildo slick with lube and his own filth lying on his stomach like a final, grotesque insult. The light was left on, a stark, unforgiving spotlight on his broken form, as she climbed the steps to the kitchen to meet her new partners.

Chloe walked through the kitchen door and stopped short. Roy, a mountain of a man she assumed was Sheila's husband, was efficiently stripping her unconscious mother, her limp body being handled without care. Elizabeth, the platinum blonde, was sitting on a chair overseeing the operation, a look of bored amusement on her face. David was on his knees beside Elizabeth, his head bowed.

Chloe looked down at David; she bit her bottom lip to keep from laughing at the sight of him so utterly subservient.

"Was that really necessary?" she asked Elizabeth, gesturing to her mother's prone form.

"Probably not," Elizabeth replied with a shrug, "but it was fun."

"David, go and get some clothes on and come back down." Although David didn't live in the house, he kept some spare clothes in Miriam's room. He stood, unclipped the leash from his collar, and dropped it on the floor with a look of pure contempt directed at Elizabeth. Roy immediately stood and braced himself, ready for trouble. He was an inch taller than David, but David had the edge in raw mass and muscle.

"Roy," Elizabeth called out, her voice sharp. "Get back to what I told you to do."

David looked at Chloe, and she gave a subtle nod to indicate that he also should do as he was told.

"Men and their testosterone," Elizabeth said with a wry smile, watching the two powerful men reluctantly stand down.

Miriam was just beginning to come around, a fuzzy, throbbing consciousness returning, when she felt herself being lifted and carried. The world was a blur of motion and muffled voices. She was set on a cold, hard floor, and before she could fully process her surroundings, the heavy wooden door slammed shut, its echo carrying a terrifying finality. She was plunged into absolute darkness, the air thick with the smell of fresh concrete and fear.

She tried to move, to push herself up, but her arms were strapped securely behind her back, making any attempt to shift her position a struggle. She managed to push herself into a kneeling position, her head tapping against the concrete roof, when she discovered it. A sharp, agonizing pain shot through her knees. The ridges in the concrete floor—ridges she herself had specified, designed to maximize discomfort for its occupant—were brutally effective. Every movement sent a fresh wave of pain through her joints, a cruel irony of her own sadistic design coming back to torment her.

Meanwhile, David moved with a purpose. He found Simon still strapped to the bench, his body trembling. He released the restraints, his expression unreadable. He helped Simon to his feet, his big hands firm as he pulled Simon’s behind his back and cuffed them. "Come on," he grunted, his voice low. He pushed Simon gently but firmly towards the stairs, guiding him up into the kitchen, a silent exchange of prisoners for a new, unknown regime.

The first thing Simon saw when he was shoved through the kitchen door was a large, intimidating man on his knees, meticulously wiping up the last of the spilled wine and shattered glass with a cloth. His movements were precise, his head bowed in submission. At the table, Elizabeth and Chloe sat, calmly drinking coffee as if they were old friends catching up, the scene of domesticity completely at odds with the man groveling at their feet.

David gave Simon another firm shove, propelling him forward until he stood, naked and trembling, directly in front of the two seated women. They both looked up, their eyes scanning him from head to toe with disdain.

Chloe took a slow sip of her coffee, her gaze never leaving Simon's. She set the cup down with a soft click. "We need to talk about your future, Simon."

She slid a document across the table. It was thick, official-looking, and bound in a blue cardboard folder. "This," she said, tapping it with a manicured finger, "is your new will and testament. It's been drawn up very professionally."

Simon stared at it, his mind struggling to catch up. "What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about how you've planned to leave everything to me upon your death," she said, her voice sickeningly sweet. "Every asset, every property, every last penny. All of it to me."

"What?!" he finally found his voice, his shock giving way to anger. "I've never signed any such thing! That's insane! I never would—" A hand the size of a frying pan slapped the back of his head, hard enough to make his vision swim. He stumbled forward.

"Shut up," David's voice was a low growl from behind him.

Chloe smiled, not missing a beat. "As I was saying," she continued smoothly, "you now have two options. Option one: You sign everything over to me, and in return, I promise to look after you for the rest of your life. You'll have a roof over your head and food to eat. You'll be comfortable."

She paused, letting the false kindness hang in the air before continuing. "Option two: you refuse. Then you will disappear. A few weeks from now, your body will be found in a dumped car with a hosepipe in the window and the engine running, on a remote country road. In your pocket will be a suicide note expressing your deep depression and regret. Tucked away with your new lawyer will be instructions concerning this will, ensuring it goes into effect immediately. So, what's it going to be, brother? A long, comfortable life with me, or a short, fiery end?”

Simon stood there in shock, the world tilting on its axis. The sheer, unadulterated audacity of the plan left him speechless. He felt a cold dread settle in his stomach, heavier than any of the physical pain he had endured.

Chloe took pity on his stunned silence. "I'll give you the night to think about it," she said, her tone magnanimous. She turned to David. "Take him to his new room."

David grabbed Simon's arm, his grip like iron, and led him back down to the new room in the basement. He pushed him towards the single bed that had seemed so inviting before. With practiced efficiency, he chained Simon's ankle to the bedframe and strapped the ball gag back into his mouth. The door closed with a heavy thud, and Simon noticed with a fresh wave of despair that there was no handle on the inside. Not that he could have reached it anyway, chained as he was. The light went out, leaving him in utter darkness.
