Chapter 9 of 20
The years that followed blurred into acquisition and expansion, a relentless march forward powered by Erin's singular vision and Donna's tireless execution. The antique shops became the foundation, but the real money was in property. Erin's intuition was uncanny; she seemed to sense the property market's ebb and flow like a shark senses blood in the water. She bought low, renovated with an eye for quality and a ruthless control of costs, and sold high. The profits were plowed back into the next venture, each one bigger than the last. Donna managed the day-to-day operations of the growing portfolio, leaving Erin free to strategize, network, and hunt.
The Dockyard development was in her sight, the culmination of everything she had learned and become. It would be a project of immense scale and complexity, and it would be fraught with challenges from the start. Bureaucratic red tape, planning objections, construction delays—they were just obstacles to be overcome, problems to be solved with the right application of pressure or money.
She thought back to the early days, to the flat above the shop. She remembered the first time she had broken Tom, truly broken him. It wasn't with pain or with humiliation, though those were tools she used often. It was with pleasure. A pleasure so intense, so overwhelming, that it shattered his sense of self and remade him in her image. She had tied him to her bed, his limbs spread-eagled, and had spent hours exploring his body, bringing him to the edge of release again and again, only to deny him. She had learned his every response, every trigger. She knew exactly how to make him beg, how to make him weep, how to make him thank her for the denial.
The breaking point came on the third night. He was delirious with need, his body a taut wire of unsatisfied desire. She had mounted him then, sinking down onto his rigid cock, taking him inside her. She had ridden him slowly, her movements controlled, her eyes locked on his. She hadn't moved to bring him to orgasm; she had moved to prove a point. She was in control of his pleasure, just as she was in control of everything else. She had leaned down, her lips brushing his ear.
"Who do you belong to, Tom?" she had whispered.
"You, Erin. Always you," he had sobbed, his voice breaking.
At that moment, she had granted him his release. The force of his orgasm had been so violent, so all-consuming, that it had broken something fundamental within him. In the aftermath, as he lay trembling and spent in her arms, he looked at her with an expression of such utter, besotted devotion that she knew he was hers. Not just in body, but in soul. He had found his purpose in serving her, and she had found the most loyal, loving companion a woman like her could ever hope for.
He was still that way, even now. A successful, respected man in his own right, the public face of much of their property empire. But in private, he was hers. He cooked for her, cleaned for her, and anticipated her every need. His greatest joy was to please her, whether that meant massaging her feet after a long day or presenting himself for a whipping when the mood took her. It was a perfect, symbiotic relationship, and she did love him. In her own way.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the soft chime of her private elevator. Donna. A moment later, she entered the office, her expression unreadable.
"It's done," Donna said, her voice low. "The container is on its way to the docks. ETA is 0400. Our contact in Rotterdam will handle the rest."
Erin nodded, a flicker of satisfaction warming her. "And Geoffrey?"
"He's secured in the training room. He performed his duties adequately, but he hesitated when attaching the hose. A moment of pity," Donna said, her lip curling in disdain. "I've noted it in his file."
"An error in judgment," Erin mused. "But not a fatal one. Yet. Increase his training regimen. I want him to understand that pity is a luxury we can't afford."
"Of course," Donna replied. "There's something else. The final planning permission for the Medway Wharf project came through this afternoon. The council approved the revised application."
A genuine smile spread across Erin's face. The Medway Wharf was the next big thing, even bigger than the Dockyard. A sprawling complex of luxury apartments, commercial spaces, and a private marina. It would cement her status as the pre-eminent property developer in the South East.
"Excellent," Erin said. "Tell Tom to prepare the champagne. And to prepare himself. We have something to celebrate."
Donna's eyes glinted with understanding. She gave a sharp nod and turned to leave. "As you wish, Erin."
As the door closed behind her, Erin stood and walked to the window once more. The city was a glittering tapestry of light and life, a kingdom she had built from nothing. She had conquered the past, mastered the present, and the future was an open road, stretching out before her, waiting for her to claim it. She thought of Tom, waiting for her, eager and devoted. She thought of the power she wielded, the lives she controlled, the empire she commanded. She felt a familiar, intoxicating thrill, a deep, resonant hum of absolute satisfaction. She was Erin Wilson.
