Chapter 12 of 21
Two years passed. The world continued to turn, but within the homes of the Sisterhood, a quiet revolution had taken hold and become the new normal. The alliance with Lady Dashworth's circle had flourished, their joint venture, discreetly named "The Vinters Trust," channeling funds and influence to further their cause. Celia and Eleanor's lives had settled into a comfortable, powerful rhythm. Their love had deepened, their partnership in every sense unshakeable.
The day Celia's daughter, Katherine, turned eighteen was a milestone of a different kind. It was the day the charter's final clause came due. Celia and Eleanor took her out for lunch at a smart hotel in Rochester, the air thick with unspoken significance. Over plates of salmon and asparagus, they gently began to explain.
"Katherine," Celia began, her voice soft but clear, "there's something about our family, about our lives, that you need to know. It's something we've kept from you until you were old enough to understand."
They told her everything. They spoke of the war, of their frustration, of the formation of the Sisterhood. They explained the philosophy, the charter, and the reality of their dominance over Frank and Arthur. They laid it all bare, their voices calm and matter-of-fact. When they finished, they looked at their daughter, their hearts pounding slightly.
"We want you to know that you have free will," Eleanor said, reaching across the table to take Katherine's hand. "How you choose to live your life is entirely up to you. We will honor your choices, whatever they may be."
Katherine listened, her expression unreadable. She took a sip of her water, her eyes thoughtful. "I knew something was strange at home," she said slowly, a small smile playing on her lips. "Dad is... not like other dads. But I could never have imagined this." She looked from Celia to Eleanor, and a slow, brilliant smile spread across her face. "I'm not shocked," she said, her voice filled with a new, exciting energy. "I'm... thrilled. It all makes a strange kind of sense."
When they got home, the lesson became practical. Frank was in the front room, polishing the silver. Celia called him over. "Frank. Strip." He hesitated for only a second before obeying, his movements practiced and resigned. He stood naked before them, his head bowed. "From now on, in this house," Celia announced, her voice ringing with authority, "Katherine is a person of authority. You will obey her as you obey us. You will honor that position. Is that understood?"
"Yes, Celia," he mumbled.
"Address her as Ma'am," Katherine instructed.
"Yes, Ma'am," he said, his face burning with shame.
Katherine stepped forward, a newfound confidence in her posture. "I said, is that understood?" she asked, her voice firm.
"Yes, Ma'am," he repeated, louder this time.
But understanding and acceptance were two different things. Later that evening, when Katherine asked him to re-polish a spoon he had missed, he muttered something under his breath about her being just a spoilt little girl. It was a minor act of rebellion, but it was all the excuse Katherine needed. Celia handed her daughter a thin, wooden paddle. "He needs to learn the new regime," she said softly.
Katherine didn't hesitate. She ordered Frank to bend over the arm of the sofa. The paddling she administered was not brutal, but it was resolute and unyielding. Each sharp smack was a declaration of her new authority. By the time she was finished, Frank was trembling, his apologies heartfelt and absolute. He finally understood.
There were boundaries, of course. Katherine was warned that whenever they were out as a family, especially if her younger brother, fifteen-year-old Thomas, was present, she would be respectful to her father. The public facade was paramount. She was also told that in another three years, when Thomas turned eighteen, he too would be brought to his knees and learn the new rules, but not before then. The protection of the children's innocence was a core tenet of the charter.
Katherine became a regular presence at the meetings, as did two other eighteen-year-old daughters of members. The next generation was being initiated. A few weeks after Katherine's birthday, Celia was passing the lounge when she heard a low, firm voice from within. It was Katherine. Peering through the slight gap in the door, her heart gave a strange, proud lurch.
Katherine had Frank tied, bent over a small occasional table, his wrists bound to its legs. She was sitting in a chair in front of him, her skirt hitched up to her thighs. "You will please me, Father," she said, her voice cold and commanding. "And you will do it well."
Frank, his face a mask of humiliation, did as he was told. Celia watched as her daughter, her beautiful, intelligent daughter, took her rightful place in the new order. She watched Katherine's head fall back, her eyes close in pleasure, a low moan escaping her lips. A wave of intense, conflicting emotions washed over Celia. There was a fierce, maternal pride in her daughter's strength and dominance. There was the thrill of seeing their philosophy so perfectly embodied in the next generation. And there was a dark, undeniable excitement, a powerful arousal at the sight of such absolute, beautiful submission. She knew, with a certainty that filled her with joy, that their revolution was not just successful. It was eternal.
